Our go-to guy, knows the place like the back of his hand, coffee wizard, music extraordinaire, best style, and friend to all.

Hailing from a galaxy far, far away-aka-Colombia (also a lover of Star Wars). With a passion for baking that is unparalleled, Harry has earned a reputation as one of the best in the business.
He’s affectionately known as "The Cowboy," reflecting his free-spirited approach to baking. Even in an industry that values precision and science, Harry embraces a sense of adventure, trusting his instincts and letting his creativity guide. -
Tech/Photo/Admin
Our photo, socials, admin team newbie. Whether she’s working on the website or mainlining another coffee, she brings a smile to any project with her sick computer skills and joyful disposition.

Is it Buhler’s day off? Or is everyday just a party with Clay? Clay is the most jazzy, thoughtful and foundational person of our team.

Our in-house clothing designer. Badass barista. Quiet but thoughtful. Can gently handle any situation.

Veronika-the artist! Her smile could light up a room, and she could sell a popsicle to a woman in white gloves. She’s genuine, thoughtful, and a wonderful steward for each guest.

Baker
Our rocksteady superstar, she’s a serious and silent cutie. In the kitchen, you’ll blink and Karol will have croissants baked, kitchen cleaned, and the next day set up. Small and quick, she can predict things happening before they do.

Our youthful Ukrainian baker:) She came to us from Francis Bread on Salt Spring Island. In the kitchen, she’s very independent - blink and she’s got it done. Also a lover of tiny things, live music, and the outdoors.

Abby (aka Jackie-O) is our in house marketing guru. She’s whip smart, kind, and has incredible style. She is one of the hardest working people we know- holding 3 jobs, not to mention her own budding art career. As they say, not all heroes wear capes.. she might wear a cape, who knows!

OUR STORY
Liberty Bakery + Cafe has been a fixture in the Main Street community for three decades. This is its third iteration, but much has stayed the same to honour those who carried the torch before. That being said, our team has grown exponentially, giving us the opportunity to open as a restaurant for dinner service in the evenings.
Elizabeth Starr is the owner/operator of the bakery and restaurant. Liberty’s artistry endures through every element of their baking and cooking—from the adorable and quirky cookies featuring Totoro (a Liberty classic!), Moomin characters, mushrooms, aliens, butterflies and more to the chocolate croissants, specialty flatbreads and focaccia.
Elizabeth is a mom, wife, and chef. She champions the amelioration of the hospitality industry and supports youth access to healthy food and food education. Elizabeth and the whole Liberty team are dedicated to beautiful food made with quality ingredients.
